The photoelectrical (BV)lightcurve of the eclipsing binary V1898 Cyg obtained by Dallaporta & Munari (2006) are here analyzed. The Wilson-Devinney Differential Correction program was used in the analysis and the results shows that the star is a semi-detached system with the secondary component that accurately fills its Roche lobe. The best fit was obtained at photometric mass ratio q = 0.3018 and inclination i = 70°

I'm not an expert in binary modeling. However, something is puzzling in Tab.2. The temperature ratio is about 2.7; the radius ratio is 1.2. In the blackbody approximation, this should led to a luminosity ratio around 76. So, all the luminosity ratios given in Tab. 2 seem unrealistic.

We have checked with the author of the comment that the calculations he made regarding the luminosity ratio given in Table 2 are due to a mistake, because the above author has misinterpreted the fractional (r) radii with absolute radii (Rsun).

Ennio Poretti wrote 2008-03-03:
Sorry about the misunderstanding. I note the quantity r is not defined in the paper (fractional with respect to what?). The absolute radii should be quoted in the paper (or in the comment), since are the most interesting quantities.
